As a result of the pandemic, 2020 saw the devastation of countless industries worldwide. During these challenging times, arts institutions have been brainstorming possible solutions – how should the arts industry cope with the drastic changes to global socio-economic conditions creatively?
During the outbreak, the performing arts will face dramatic changes and need to be adjusted in a short period of time. The Academy invites mentors from innovative technology and visual arts to empower the arts professional, focusing on the cross-disciplinary knowledge, integration and communication capabilities.

Yating's AI music creation process is constructed by different technologies and machine learning models. The workshop will provide participants with a simple and preliminary understanding on “human-music relation”from the perspectives of “technology” and “experience.” How can such a complicated romantic process be combined with artificial intelligence? The team will share their views and progress of Yating's AI music development, and let participants experience human-computer interaction in person to stimulate new sparks of "Technology X Art," bringing artists new ideas and new worlds for future creation.

LIN Ping | Director of Taipei Fine Arts Museum
LIN Ping has years of experience in teaching curatorial studies and histories of curating, and has a profound understanding of the ecology of institutional and independent curating in Taiwan. Curators, being cultural intermediaries, has the role of integrating media, spaces, talents and resources. LIN is going to stimulate the curatorial insights from the performing arts producers, to adopt a more multi-dimensional approach in response to the ever-changing contemporary culture.

Ethan TU Founder of Taiwan AI Labs and PTT (the biggest BBS in Taiwan) |
TU holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in computer science at National Taiwan University (NTU). Prior to founding Taiwan AI Labs in 2017, TU worked in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop cancer detection systems and human genetic research in the US. In 2006, TU started to work in Microsoft's AI team and became a principal development manager in 2012. The mission of Taiwan AI Labs is to develop next-generation AI solutions and define future experience with AI for the world. Currently, there are three areas that Taiwan AI Labs focus on “HealthCare,” “Smart City,” and “Human Interaction.” The labs collaborate with top research institutes in the world and work on cutting edge technologies in large-scale system.
Taiwan AI Labs Taiwan AI Labs' research spans three areas: smart healthcare, smart city, and human-computer interaction. Among them, "Yating Music" is an AI music team formed in 2017, composed of top talents from different fields, including scientists, engineers and musicians. Led by Dr. YANG Yi-hsuan, the leading AI music scientist in Taiwan, the team devotes itself to academic research, experimenting diverse AI music experiences, and seeking new ideas for music creation.
