Artists Introduction
Clarinet|LIU Kai-ni
Kai-ni graduated from Germany Detmold University of Music. 2000-2001, she won consecutivly in the Deutsche Musikrat Wettbewerb and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. From 2003 to 2005 worked for the Macau Orchestra. After returning to Taiwan, she was invited to serve as a guest clarinet for the NTSO, KSO, and NSO. Kai-ni is the founder of the "Sen Trio d'Anches" and clarinetist of Taiwan Connection Orchestra. She is also teaching at the Tainan University of Arts.
Bassoon|CHEN I-hsiu
CHEN I-hsiu currently serves as the Associate Principal Bassoon of the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan. She completed her Solistische Ausbildung in Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen in Germany, and being bestowed a full scholarship for the Juilliard School’s Master program. First prizewinner of the Juilliard Concerto Competition, Taipei Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music Competition for Woodwind Quintet.
Horn|Tina SU
Tina SU is Associate Professor of Horn at National Taiwan Normal University. Before joining NTNU faculty in 2020, Tina was Professor of Horn at University of Northern Iowa (2006-2020) and third horn of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (2000-2006). Tina received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook and her Masters of Music degree from the Juilliard School studying with William Purvis. She earned her Bachelors of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music where she was awarded the Performer's Certificate under the tutelage of horn pedagogue Verne Reynolds.
Violin|HSUEH Chih-chang
Assistant professor in Taipei National University of the Arts. Former concertmaster of Macao Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra and TC Chamber Orchestra. Guest concertmaster Invitation from Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Philharmonie Orchestra, Senzhen Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, etc..
Violin|TSAI I-yun
Former concertmaster of the Mannes Orchestra and the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra, Violinist TSAI I-yun is the recipient of the President’s scholarship at the Mannes School of Music, where she earned her Master of Music Degree under the tutelage of the legendary violinist Aaron Rosand. She has been featured in several avenues as a chamber musician in the United States, including Alice Tully Hall, The Frick Collection Museum, the German Consulate, and the Madison Ave. Presbyterian Church.
Viola|CHIANG I-chun
Recipient of Chi-Mei Arts Award (music category) and a second-rounder in the Primrose International Viola Competition, Dr. CHIANG I-chun earned her doctoral degree at CCM of University of Cincinnati under Masao Kawasaki and Catharine Carroll Lees. Dr. CHIANG has been the Principal Viola with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the violist of the Dakota Quartet, and viola instructor in Augustana College and Tunghai University. She is currently on the faculty at the General Education Center of Pingtung University of Science and Technology.
Cello|HUANG Tzu-wei
HUANG Tzu-wei has received his Master of Music from The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Richard Aaron. He is currently studying with Julia Lichten, pursuing his Doctoral of Musical Art at Manhattan School of Music. He was also invited to music festivals including Music Academy of the West, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Taipei Music Academy & Festival. Starting 2021, he serves as cello principal of Counterpoint Ensemble and a member of Taiwan Connection.
Double Bass|CHIU Yi-hsuan
Bassist CHIU Yi-hsuan has received her Konzertexamen Solo Diploma with distinction from Hochschule für Musik Saarbrücken in Germany, Master and Bachelor degrees from The Juilliard School in New York City as a Kovner Fellow. She was also the recipient of Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Fellowship as well as Aspen Music Festival Double bass Fellowship. Yi Hsuan has performed with hr-Sinfonieorchester (Frankfurt Radio Symphony) as 2-year Academy player as well as TC Chamber Orchestra as principal bassist.
