Artists Introduction
Flute|OU Li-an
Taiwan flutist. OU Li-an is dedicated her career to performing and flute education. She has been a four-time winner of National Taiwan Flute Competitions. Li-an received her Master of Music and Doctor of Music in candidacy from Indiana University-Bloomington where she studied with Thomas ROBERTELLO. Li-an has joined the flute faculty at the Tainan National University of the Arts and Tainan University of Technology since 2008. She is also an active member of Taiwan Counterpoint Ensemble. Currently living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Oboe|CHENG Hua-hsin
Currently Oboe/English Horn player of the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra as well as a Marigaux performing artist in Taiwan. Ms. CHENG received a Bachelor's degree from the National Taipei University of the Arts, a Master's degree at the Karlsruhe University of Music in Germany, and completed her advanced studies as Orchester Solist at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. Her major teachers include Professor LIU Rong-yi, Professor Thomas INDERMÜL, and Professor Emanuel ABBÜHL.
Violin|CHANG Chun
Dual doctorate of violin and chamber music in performance in Germany and Austria. In 2009, he was selected as the Young Star of the National Theater & Concert Hall. After returning to Taiwan, he further organized and established the performing arts group "VIO Strings", which is committed to performances. He currently teaches in the Music Departments of National Taiwan Normal University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Kaohsiung Normal University and Tainan National University of the Arts, dedicated to cultivating and educating a new generation of musicians.
Violin|CHANG Hen-shuo
Praised by Broadway World online review as "technically proficient… with great sensitivity," and described by Violinist Rachel Barton PINE as "eclectic… very exciting and musical," Steven CHANG Hen-shuo is currently the Assistant Concertmaster of Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra.
An avid chamber and orchestral musician, Steven has collaborated with Cellist MA Yo-yo, Violinist CHEN Ray, Pianist PAIK Kun-woo, Conductors Riccardo MUTI, Andris NELSONS, among others.
Steven holds an M.M. degree from Yale School of Music. In 2019, he performed as Guest Concertmaster with Taipei Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan) at the National Concert Hall in Taipei.
Viola|WANG I-chen
Violist WANG I-chen was born in Tainan. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree from the Juilliard School with the highest honor "Lillian Fuchs Prize". At Juilliard, she studied with Karen TUTTLE, and had won numerous competitions, as well as the performer for WQXR’s On A-i-R series, a radio broadcast featuring the Caramoor Virtuosi. Miss WANG is currently an Assistant Professor at Tainan National University of the Arts.
Cello|Victor COO
Filipino cellist, Victor Coo, is currently a full-time Associate Professor at the Taipei National University of the Arts. He is the cellist and founding member of the Voyage String Quartet, and the Principal Cellist of the Taiwan Connection Chamber Orchestra. A Doctor of Musical Arts graduate of Michigan State University, he also went to University of Maryland for his Master of Music degree.
