Professor LIAO Chia-hong Drapal, a well-known violinist, conductor, holds the Konzertfach-Diplom, and Magister artium, from Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, is now the Dean of College of Music and a full time professor of music at the National Taiwan Normal University.
Professor LIAO has performed and been invited lecture master class around the world. He had invited as violin soloist and conductor with Wien Kammerphilharmonie (Austria), San Diego Symphony (America), Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), Satu Mare Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra (Romania)、Sonora Philharmonic Orchestra (Mexico) and Orchestra del Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia (Roma). At the flag-raising ceremony on New Year's Day for the 100th anniversary of Taiwan, he was honored to be invited to conduct eight major symphony orchestras up to 200-member in Taiwan.
Professor LIAO pays special attention to the educational function of the orchestra. After returning from Austria, he founded Pro Arte Music Production, Taiwan Pro Arte Orchestra and Andersen Philharmonic Soloists, promoting fine arts and diversified performances. And he also has excavated many talented young artists.
Violin|CHANG Ray-chou
Featured as one of the duo-soloists with Julian RACHLIN in BACH’s Double Concerto in 2014, violinist CHANG Ray-chou is highly sought after as a Soloist, Concertmaster and Chamber Musician. He currently serves as the Concertmaster of National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, a position he held since 2009, and had been invited to play with Evergreen Orchestra and Sichuan Symphony Orchestra of China as a guest concertmaster. CHANG also has appeared as a soloist with Moscow Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Voronezh State Symphony Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Young Musicians’ Foundation Orchestra of Singapore, Sichuan Symphony Orchestra of China, and etc.
The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 1945, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is the oldest symphony orchestra in Taiwan. Since its establishment, it has been successively affiliated with the Taiwan Garrison Command, Taiwan Art Construction Association, Taiwan Provincial Department of Education, Department of Culture, Council for Cultural Affairs, and the Executive Yuan. In May of 2012, it came under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The orchestra is located in Wufeng, Taichung. It is a full-fledged music group with a full complement of software and hardware.
Over 70 years of history, under the directors of the past and the efforts of the current director Liu Suan-Yung, the NTSO has accumulated extensive performing experience. Countless international teams and musicians have been invited to perform with the NTSO.
Since 2019, the internationally renowned conductor maestro Lan Shui has taken on the position of the NTSO Principal Guest Conductor, cooperating with the NTSO Director Liu to enrich artistic skills, innovate on tradition, deepen education, and promote aesthetics, thus enhancing the public’s musical life, making music ever-present like air, water and sunshine.
