Conductor|Brian LIAO
Brian LIAO is a distinguished young conductor from Taiwan. In 2023, he was awarded the First prize at the 2nd International Conducting Competition "Llíria City of Music" in Valencia, and the Third Prize, Orchestra Prize at the 8th Lovro von Matačić International Conducting Competition, which catalyzed his impressive career trajectory in Spanish-speaking countries and Europe.
The upcoming season (24/25, 25/26) heralds a slew of collaborations with prestigious orchestras: Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio y Televisión Española, Orquesta de Valencia, ADDA-Simfònica of Alicante, Orquesta Sinfónica de El Sistema in Venezuela, Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, Oviedo Filarmonía, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta de Extremadura, Orquesta Sinfónica de Andalucía, MAV Symphony Orchestra Hungary, Zagreb Philharmonic, Gyeonggi Philharmonic and a much-anticipated return to the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
A graduate of Salzburg Mozarteum University's Orchestral Conducting program, LIAO benefited from a Taiwanese government scholarship. With the guidance of stalwarts such as Ion MARIN, Bruno WEIL, Reinhard GOEBEL, and Alexander DRCAR, LIAO's journey in refining his artistry continues.
Counterpoint Ensemble
In 1997, the Artistic Director and Founder of Counterpoint Ensemble, LIANG Kung-ling, gathered an ensemble with vibrant, professional musicians in Southern Taiwan. In the last decade, the ensemble has performed in many concert halls across Taiwan and been invited to several stages of music festivals such as "Live in Concert," "24 Hours SCHUBERT," "24 Hours MOZART," the Beijing Music Festival, Shanghai Music Festival, and Norway Music Festival. Furthermore, the Ensemble has received praise from Taiwan's Ministry of Culture since 2010, being a recognition for the artistic effort and quality of the Ensemble.
