The First Ever Collaboration Of Weiwuying National Center For The Arts, National Taichung Theater And National Theater And Concert Hall--Zubin Mehta And Symphonieorchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks Tours Taiwan Tomorrow
Weiwuying’s pioneer co-production with sister National Performing Arts centers-- National Taichung Theater and National Theater And Concert Hall is ready to make its debut! This prominent classical music feast is brought on by the eminent Zubin Mehta and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO). BRSO is also extremely excited to visit Kaohsiung for the very first time. They will be touring from November 15th to 19th all the way from Weiwuying to Taichung and then to Taipei. There will be in total four performances on Mozart, Shubert, Richard Strauss and Mahler, offering a mesmerizing experience to classical music fanatics.
As a public arts center, Weiwuying hopes to bring world class performances to people in Kaohsiung. It is their most fervent wish to fill this flagship performing arts venue in southern Taiwan with renown performing artists. Maestro Mehta and BRSO are, without a doubt, both phenomenal classical music tyrants who will grace the new venue with their charming presence.
This is maestro Mehta’s 7th time to Taiwan. He conducted for Wiener Philharmoniker and Berliner Philharmoniker in his twenties, and wielded his magic on the conductor podium in the "Goldener Saal" (Golden Hall) at the Vienna New Year's Concert 5 times. BRSO, established in 1949, is also enjoying their 5th visit to Taiwan. The conductors of the orchestra led their musicians all the way to the top of the classical music world. BRSO has stayed in the top ten symphony orchestras in the world for many years by now. In 2008, Gramophone in England rated it as number six. In 2010, Japan Mostly Classic moved its place up to number four in the world.
Maestro Mehta told us, “I am greatly honored to performance at such an amazing venue like Weiwuying. Working with BRSO has been a pleasure. I simply cannot wait to greet our audience in the beautiful concert hall and accompany them on a mesmerizing musical journey.”
Zubin Mehta And Symphonieorchester Des Bayerischen Rundfunks will meet the audience at the one and the only vineyard concert hall in Taiwan on November 15th. Compared with the traditional shoe box concert halls, the seating area of Weiwuying Concert Hall is subdivided into terraces elevated relative to each other, whereby the terrace fronts and sides can act as local reflectors for specific seating areas, providing plenty of early reflections. By carful design, this ensures the best listening experience of the highest quality for each individual audience wherever he or she choose to sit. The program includes Rosamunde Overture and Symphony No. 3 in D major by F. Schubert, and the symphonic poem Ein Heldenleben by R. Strauss. Audiences can revel in the wonderfully riotous instrumental music and exceptional orchestration.
The debut at Weiwuying was sold out in a week. It is the first sold out performance of the opening season. Audiences have been phoning in about tickets and possible additional performances. Ready to be charmed by authentic European orchestra and refined musical techniques.
