Wen-pin CHIEN, General and Artistic Director
CHIEN Wen-pin was born in 1967, graduated from the National Taiwan Academy of Arts and awarded a Master's degree at the National University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna. CHIEN joined the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf / Duisburg, Germany) in 1996 and served as "Kapellmeister" for 22 years. 1998-2004 he was Resident Conductor of the Pacific Music Festival (Sapporo, Japan).
2001-2007 he was Music Director of National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan Philharmonic); during his tenure the orchestra has achieved several milestones such as creating Subscription series, commissioning Taiwanese composers, introducing an opera series which coroneted with the first production of the complete "Der Ring des Nibelungen" by Richard Wagner in Chinese speaking areas, upon orchestra's 20th anniversary in 2006. 2014-2016 CHIEN was Artistic Advisor of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. In addition, CHIEN was winner of the "National Award for Arts" in 2014.
Jack KUO, Deputy General Director
After earning his degree, he joined the Cloud Gate team for a stretch of 25 years, serving as production manager during Weiwuying's planning stage. With his vast experience in stage management, lighting, and audiovisual technology, he excels at backstage work and coordinating all the different aspects of the crew's tasks into a perfect presentation for audiences.
In 2018, he became a deputy general director at Weiwuying, illuminating every show and event with his professional stagecraft knowledge. His acute understanding of what needs to go on backstage ensures each performance is presented impeccably.
Summer HSIEH, Deputy General Director
HSIEH earned a master's from the Graduate Institute of Industrial Economics at National Central University. She worked from 2009 to 2020 as a member of senior management at an OTC tech manufacturing company, endowing her with much administrative experience. She is especially proficient at nurturing an outstanding team culture, company governance strategies, and HR development.
In 2021, she became a deputy general director at Weiwuying, helping with management and optimizing administrative operations, team cooperation, and management methods, inspiring creativity within the organization and making active contributions to Weiwuying's achievements in art.
Raymond WONG, Deputy General Director
WONG earned a bachelor's in European studies from Hong Kong Baptist University and a master's in arts and cultural enterprises from the University of the Arts London (Central Saint Martins). From 2014 to 2021, he was the managing director for the City Contemporary Dance Company in Hong Kong, hence his rich experience in program development/coordination, branding, international exchanges, and administrative management.
In 2021, he became a deputy general director at Weiwuying to oversee branding, audience engagement, and the visitor experience, greatly expanding Weiwuying's operational scale and furthering its overall service quality.
