Eyes and Ears
Weiwuying is an art center for everyone, including those who have difficulty getting around. In order to make the space more inclusive, the “Eyes and Ears” project, which is specially designed for the visually and hearing impaired, is introducing a series of activities that allow the disabled to explore the venue, constructing a website with improved accessibility, braille publications, and art participation events.
Exploring the Venue │ Art Participation
Tree Hollow Electronic Music │ Ears Silent Cinema
Explore the venue through sight, sound, touch, smell, taste, and physical sensations to create a map of the five senses in the mind.
Exploring the Venue Through Ears is a collaboration with the Taiwan Association of Sign Language Interpreters (TASLI). Sign language interpreters are invited to lead the event using picture and word cards.
Exploring the Venue Through Eyes is a collaboration with the Taipei Parents’ Association for the Visually Impaired and the tour is led with the use of touch cards.
The Eyes and Ears event will be open for registration in the first half of 2019. The event will be held once every month on a fixed date.
Centered around inclusiveness, Tree Hollow Electronic Music is designed with the visual display of the electronic music. Three major electronic producers of the music industry, Sonic Deadhorse, FISH, and Blaire Ko, join as a group to present works that are added with traditional Taiwanese Temple Festival Music. The participants of the Eyes and Ears event and other visitors are invited to this musical feast of the auditory and visual senses.
The Silent Cinema is designed for participants of the Ears event and other visitors. For two days in a row, the cinema will be showing two movies with figures with hearing impairment as leading characters, hoping that the films will allow regular viewers a glimpse into the lives and cultures of those with hearing disabilities, and for the hearing impaired to see the lives of other people with hearing impairments in other countries.
