【Family Series】“The Snowman ”&“ We're Going on a Bear Hunt ”The Film : Live in Concert
The first half of the program is going to present The Snowman screening live in concert, seeing the enchanting animated film The Snowman. This film is accompanied by the Counterpoint Ensemble, injecting tingle-down-the-spine magic into Walking in the Air. The book by Michael Rosen with illustrations by Helen Oxenbury is well known to millions of children and families across the world. The story follows the adventures of siblings Stan, Katie, Rosie, Max, the baby and their pet dog Rufus, who decide one day to go on an adventure through the countryside in search of bears.
On the second half of the performance, the ever-popular children's book'We're Going on a Bear Hunt’ is brought to life with Lupus Films' beautiful hand-drawn animation on screen and a live orchestra performing the award-winning soundtrack by Stuart Hancock. The 'Live in Concert' presentation also includes a lively introduction to the musical world of ‘Bear Hunt’ as well as fun sing-alongs and original closing credits song ‘Me & You’ by George Ezra. Stuart Hancock, composer of the original soundtrack, is available to conduct performances.
Stuart Hancock
Between 1999 and 2005, after graduating with distinction from the Masters course in composing for film and television at the London College of Music and Media, Stuart was full-time with London music production company Mcasso, where he composed and produced music for all commercial media. He is now forging a career as a busy freelance composer and orchestrator of film, television, commercial, theatre and concert music.
Stuart won industry awards for his music and sound design from early on in his career as a commercial composer, including his work on campaigns for the British Board of Film Classification, Burberry New York and the BBC’s World Cup coverage. He has gone on to score many independent films, both shorts and features; a first big hit was EMR, which won the Raindance Film Festival and went on general release in the summer of 2005 following its Cannes premiere. Stuart’s soundtracks to two MMA action feature films - Underground and Bodyguard: A New Beginning - were released on CD and to download in June 2009 to rapturous reviews. In 2010, Stuart scored the World Cup football documentary One Night In Turin, which went on general cinematic release, and the album of his choral/orchestral score to the fantasy film Hawk has garnered many accolades on both sides of the Atlantic.
Counterpoint Ensemble
In 1997, Kung-Ling Liang, the Art Director and founder of Counterpoint Ensemble, gathered the impassioned, professional musicians and built up the Ensemble in Southern Taiwan. The Ensemble has not only performed in chamber music, but also created interdisciplinary program, in which the Ensemble works with visual artists, dancers, actors to express classical music in the diversified circumstances. In 2011, the Ensemble worked with a renowned French mime group and performed L'Amour. Bunya Koh and His Two Wives, the multidisciplinary program the Ensemble made in 2014, had been nominated by Taishin Bank Foundation for Arts and Culture. the commentator of National Culture and Arts Foundation once considered the performance of the Ensemble was “the perfect balance of music and theater.” Counterpoint Ensemble had performed in several concert halls in Taiwan, including Kaohsiung and Taipei, also acquired commendation from government for almost a decade. Furthermore, the Ensemble has received commendation from Taiwan Ministry of Culture for 5 years, being a recognition for the Ensemble's effort and quality.
