Neo-Classic Chamber Ensemble“Imagining a Poetic Space”
Taiwan debuts an interpretation of spatial poetics with landscape architecture images, which is a large scale cross-field performance with over a hundred of people.
Neo-Classic Chamber Ensemble has been devoted to the large scale cross-field performance and making in recent years. Imagining a Poetic Space is created on the basis of the poetry and literature of Tseng Kuei-Hi, the winner of both the Oxford Award for Taiwan Writers and the Award for Contributions in Hakka as well as Chiang Tzu-Te, the winner of Wu San-lien Prize in Literature, both of which are doctor poets. Additionally, we have commissioned composer Liu Shen-Hsien, who is the winner Golden Melody Awards, to compose the music for the whole play. Through spatial concept of poetic imagination and the large scale cross-field performance on the stage as well as the highly integrated heterogeneous elements, the pure power of poetry is successfully brought out.
If poetry can be likened to literature architecture, music is weaved architecture.
In this performance, the Art Director CHEN,HSIN-I brings many top artistic creativity and performance groups in Taiwan, including the Director Wu Wei-Wei, the image designer Wang Yi-Sheng, the light designer Sung Yung-Hung, the choreographer Chang Ya-Ting, the costume designer Huang Chih-Yang, Neo-Classic Chamber Ensemble, Natus Cantorum, the vocalist Lin Chien-Chi, Li Jung-Ying, Lin Yi-Cherng, Chan TSe-Chun, etc. In terms of the stage design, Chao Chien-Ming is specially invited, who is a famous architect having won the first prize of the FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Awards. He presents the stage with a nonlinear narrative form to coincide real space and shadow, creating a poetic landscape space lingering between reality and surrealism to express the poet’s exploration of life philosophy and his deep love of the land.
Imagining a Poetic Space has attained a complete ceremony in National Taichung Theater and National Theater, attracting many professional comments and reports by several TV media and receiving very high praises. On September this year when coming back to National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, it is full of expectation for a local art and culture team from Kaohsiung. The whole performance testifies the new possible creation relations among poetry, music, dance, play, multimedia and architecture space image. It guides people to read a three-dimensional poetry and feel the breathtaking new aesthetic form from the perspective of modern art.
