This concert features two seminal works in the genre of piano trio. The celebrated “Archduke” by Ludwig von Beethoven evokes a noble and grandiose quality, just as the title suggests. In contrast, Bedřich Smetana’s only piano trio shows daring Bohemian instincts, revealing strong and deep emotions of both despair and tender experienced by the composer.
