Kusomo et son Jalak de Bali, by the Théâtre de la Ville
Kusomo et son Jalak de Bali is a play co-produced by the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) and the Théâtre de la Ville (in France). Yang Yi-lin, the director of the performance, employed simple objects, light, and shadows to showcase the beauty of theaters. Adapted from a true story, Kusomo et son Jalak de Bali tells the story of the difficulties encountered by a young Indonesian refugee (who travels to Australia because of a tsunami disaster) and his childhood “playmate” Jalak de Bali. The play takes the audience on a journey, exploring human values, human rights, friendship, and the courage of growing up. Background music such as Indonesian songs, French songs, Arabic songs, and Mali lullabies will be performed by famous Taiwanese Yangqin player Wang Ya-ping.
