【2022 Weiwuying New Year & Lantern Festival Series】Masters Play - Beyond the Music Boundary @WEIWUYING
When the most touching and profound pop songs are transformed into classical music, the immediate resonance that is felt will touch the hearts of every listener.
Western classical instruments and elements are often used by pop song products and performances to enhance sound quality and style. On the other hand,
Masters Play-Beyond the Music Boundary @WEIWUYING produced by National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) breaks away from the norm by presenting classic pop songs in the form of a full orchestra and a completely classical style, thus delivering a brilliant experience for the audience.
In this first season, the groups directed by Maestro CHIEN Wen-pin and Golden Melody Awards winner Julia PENG will together perform 12 famous works of pop
music master LO Ta-you in a classical style. The soul-stirring performance will bring the most beautiful music to the audience and will surely be a feast to the ears as well as the heart.

Music master LO Ta-you
The 32 nd Golden Melody Awards paid the highest tribute to LO Ta-you, awarding him the Special Contribution Award. Having made innovative breakthroughs in pop, rock, and folk music, LO's works have influenced generations of musicians in Chinese-speaking regions, including Taiwan, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. In addition to combining rock music with Eastern aesthetics, his works contain melodies and lyrics that are rich in social critique and consciousness and depict the full picture of an era, and are thus regarded as masterpieces in the Chinese music world.
LO Ta-you often combines pop music with literature, turning pop music into an artform that has an equal weight with films, literature, and Western classical music.
By way of music that contains diverse styles and profound meanings and lyrics that are high in literary and critical value, LO is considered one of the most important
figures in the Chinese pop music world and the Taiwan music circle.
Golden Melody Awards winner Julia PENG
When awarded the Best Mandarin Female Singer at the 27 th Golden Melody Awards, Julia PENG expressed that she "has only focused on one thing throughout her entire life, and that is singing". Since her debut in 1996, her music, spanning Old Dreams to Darling, has reached audiences in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, the US, Canada, and Mainland China; basically wherever there are Chinese-speaking people is where Julia PENG's music will be popular. Both the media and public have proclaimed PENG as a diva with a powerful voice, a testament to her exceptional singing. PENG possesses versatile vocals that can deliver both Teresa TENG's delicacy and elegance and Whitney HOUSTON's wild rhythms. Throughout the years, PENG has not only collaborated with renowned musicians and producers in the Chinese music world for her albums, but has also produced singles together with rock and hip-hop musicians and has even incorporated the singing style of musicals in her new works. All in all, PENG is a singer who can perfectly interpret diverse styles with great ease.
