【2022 Weiwuying New Year & Lantern Festival Series】Jin-Ing-Ger Puppet Troupe
During the New Year, Miss Phoenix from Japan was on her way to visiting National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), but lost her way in a single-roofed house. She then met a mysterious old gentleman, China's leader Yu-Bi-Ling-Sheng, Mongolian swordsman Temujin, and A-Ti, and went on to embark on a exciting adventure. Who shall become the greatest hero after all? This New Year edition will present Taiwan's only budaixi (Taiwanese puppetry) performance that features the face changing techniques of Sichuan Opera as well as extraordinary puppet stunts. How many faces can the puppets change into? Let's keep our eyes wide open and count together!
New Year's Party with Puppetry
Amidst her trip, Miss Phoenix encountered Tiansha and Disha, who wanted to attack her. Helpless and with no way out, Miss Phoenix could only yell for help. At this moment, China's leader Yu-Bi-Ling-Sheng appeared, but was his intention to help Tiansha and Disha or save Miss Phoenix? On the other hand, upon hearing that Miss Phoenix was captured, Mongolian swordsman Temujin immediately mounted his thoroughbred horse to come save her. Will he be able to exhibit his exceptional archery skills and become the hero that saves her? Will he be able to defeat evil and uphold justice?
New Year Exclusive - Sichuan Opera's Face Changing in Budaixi
The exclusive face changing performance, originated from Sichuan opera, in Taiwanese traditional puppetry, Budaixi. The puppets not only perform fast 360-degree spear acts, but can change faces within less than a second completely without the aid of technological effects. How many faces can the puppets change into? Let's keep our eyes wide open and count together!
Puppet Heroes - Celebrated Feat
During the New Year, the elegant and beautiful Miss Phoenix from Japan was on her way to visiting National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), but lost her way in a single-roofed house. She then inquired for directions from a mysterious old gentleman. The old gentlemen spoke in fluent Taiwanese, reciting what sounded like wise old sayings and proverbs. What exactly did the man say? Let's find out!
After receiving directions from the gentleman, Miss Phoenix ran into the two main leaders of the Evil Party, who wanted to attack her and take her back to the Party for rewards. Just as she was feeling helpless, China's leader Yu-Bi-Ling-Sheng received the news and immediately went on his way to save her. However, he was ultimately unable to defeat the enemy, and was left without a choice but to ask for his good partner A-Ti's help. Will A-Ti be able save everybody and become the great hero? Let's find out!

Jin-ing-ger Puppet Troupe
Founded in 1970, a local, longstanding Kaohsiung troupe that was selected as one of Kaohsiung's outstanding performing arts groups.
Dedicated to innovative performances of budaixi, the Troupe has gained great recognition. The Troupe uses special puppets that are "large", "luxurious", and "highly resemble humans". In addition to performing at temple festivals and theaters, the Troupe spends NT$ 1 million every year to produce new shows, giving ticketed performances in national venues, theaters, and concert halls.
In addition to performances, the Troupe helps to provide budaixi cultural event platforms, holding on-campus exhibitions and promoting budaixi in schools and in the countryside. The Troupe is committed to deepening the public's connection with Taiwanese culture, so as to help preserve the art of budaixi and further promote it on the international stage, thereby ensuring the art form's sustainable development.
