He moved to the United States on January 23, 1981 and passed away in California on September 23, 1992. The year 2022 marks the 30th death anniversary of CHEN Su-ti. This commemorative exhibition will present his musical career as a first-generation pianist and composer in Taiwan, cultural relics related to his roles as a pastor and the principal of Tamkang Senior High School, and makes use of digital multimedia and documentaries to allow more people to recognize his music. Under the theme Love for God and Homeland, this exhibition not only highlights CHEN Su-ti's western romantic-style composing techniques and his life course and events based on a Christian faith, but as this year coincides with the 150th anniversary of Rev. MACKAY's mission in Taiwan, also includes a brief history of CHEN Su-ti's life and the Hometown Visit Concert from during the Japanese colonial period. Elements such as his mentor Margaret GAULD- known as the "Mother of Northern Church Music" and wife of Rev. William GAUL, Miss Isabel Taylor, a teacher and friend, CHEN Ching-chung – named by LU Chuan-sheng as the "Father of Chorus in Taiwan", published music scores and CDs, as well as CHEN Su-ti's notes and sermon notes over the past few decades will allow attendees to experience CHEN's great life of preaching, composing and teaching.
