Neo-Classic Dance Company - Carmina Burana
The dance Carmina Burana is created by LIU Feng-shueh based on an oratorio the Carmina Burana by the German modern composer Carl ORFF. The lyrics of the play are poems (mostly love songs) written by some unnamed monks or poets in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The content of the lyrics reflects their inner feelings, eulogizing secular life, religious awareness and criticism of the times.
After the oratorio was published in 1937, it has been widely read and recited, mainly because of the rhythmic charm and music that is filled with life . The dance structure of Carmina Burana created by LIU Feng-shueh is (1) Preface (2) Early Spring (3) Hotel (4) The Palace of Love.
The dance shows the mental journey of a group of young monks with noble ideals when they build a spiritual temple for the world. However, after he/she broke the precepts, broke free from bondage, liberated their personalities, and wandered in secular life, they returned to their original point — persistence and principle.
