【Weiwuying Anniversary 4.0】5F Studio Production: Bonfire - Absence of Darkness

What will it be like when the world gets dark?
What will it be like when the world gets dazzling bright?
Millions of years ago, our ancestors sang and danced around the bonfire celebrating the discovery of the light. Many many years later, the reason of getting around the bonfire might be different, but the strong desire of the light, music and gathering with people has never changed.
Bonfire is an oversized interactive audiovisual installation built by 6 huge LED panels, 6-speakers and 66 LED bars. The round shape design of the installation and 6-channels surround sound system gives unique experiences to the audience.
Absence of Darkness is the core concept of the show. Live music, light and visuals are designed to emphasise the contrasts of darkness, light, silence and loudness. Expect the unexpected, this is not a concert. It's a journey through music and light.
During the "Interactive Show," you will be a part of the performance, in control of elements of what you see, play with the elements in the LED screen with your movements or connect with Bonfire. Or connect with Bonfire through the web app and leave messages on the LED walls by using your phone.
In the performance part, the installation generates visual elements and lights by listening and analysing the music played live by 5 of the best musicians in Taiwan. Unique moments are created when the audience, the performers and the installation are corresponding to each other.
"The Party" comes after the "Interactive Shows." (Tickets are sold separately.) It wouldn't be called a party without DJs, VJs and party people, simple as that! Energetic music, magical light, audiovisual works and Bonfire will be pushing the vibes until midnight. On 7th Oct, Minelectro Inc. will present a new way of partying. Party people will be able to vote for their favourite genres of music to decide the lineup of the night. On 8th Oct., DJ Mr. Skin, a Kaohsiung based DJ who will present the best music and secret acts from Kaohsiung Hip Hop scene.
Long story short, you will have cool music, cool visuals and the experience of being a part of it all yourself, creating and collaborating with everyone in the building. Just come and have fun!

We are a team that works very hard in putting different kinds of arts and technologies together.
In 2020, we produced Orange Wall Paradise, a tiny festival with various kinds of arts like DJ, instrumentalists, wrestling, BMX, Diablo and interactive installations. In the same year, we combined two of the most famous parties IP in Taiwan, Meme’s Opera House and Mandarin Homework, into Meme’s Homework, which was hosted in Weiwuying with thousands of audience.

London based DJ, music producer, flutist and interdisciplinary artist.
Master of Music from Goldsmiths, University of London.
YING has won DMC World DJ Championship Taiwan Champion and was nominated by Golden Melody Award for Best instrumental music producer and by Golden Indie Music Award for Best band.
His remarkable show routines which mix scratch DJing with live fluteboxing (flute+beatboxing) solos make his name unforgettable to the audience. He makes different genres of music including jazz, funk, pop, hip hop, electronic, experimental and contemporary classical. His shows can be found in many scenes, such as party, fashion, theatre, film and dance.
DJ QuestionMark has performed in international events like SXSW (USA), Glastonbury Festival (UK), Edinburgh Festival Fringe (UK), London Fashion Week (UK) and New York Fashion Week (USA).
Since 2020, he has started developing shows like live streamings and new media projects. In the past year, he has been invited to perform in Weiwuying, Nuit Blanche Taipei, Sun Festival, Mega Port and SXSW.
Music Producer & Saxophonist｜HSIEH Min-yen
He has got the Best Instrumental Recording Album by Golden Melody Award. He is one of the best saxophone players in Taiwan and well known in jazz, pop, electronic and experimental music. Hsieh can be taken as the box office guarantee.
The Party｜Minelectro Inc.
Minelectro Inc. is a Tainan based party promoter. They are DJs focusing on making high-end and quality events. Minelectro has years of experience in holding parties in many different spaces like coffee shops, barber shops, temples and town council halls. They even have held parties to get people’s attention about stray animals and eco-friendly issues.

Red Bull 3 Style World DJ Championship Taiwan Champion.
Mr. Skin is the founder of both <Mandarin Homework> and <Shotgun System>. The unique energy he had in the performances made the audience worship him. He is always made fun by calling him a cult leader. For the same reason, the club he owns - Cocco & Co. has earned the reputation of the coolest club in Kaohsiung.
Technical Coordinator & Lighting design｜YING Chi-feng
YING has been professionally trained in entertainment technology and multimedia arts. He has been involved in multiple musical productions in world-renowned off-broadway theatre - Public Theatre. Recent years, YING has been working on LED control system designs which is aim on improve the communications between audio, visuals, programs and the users.
Visual Coordinator｜WANG Yung-yi (Mosu)
Wang as known as Mosu is a VJ, animator and visual director. He specialises in coordinating visual elements between live acts, lighting design, stage design and videos on live shows. Mosu has been participated in many Taiwanese top artists' tour concerts as visual director and video producer.
Interaction Designer｜SHEK Yiu-Chung
Shek is an interactive engineer, graduated from Monash University majoring in Computer Science with a Bachelor's degree in Australia. He was the Technical leader in Artgital and experiences on brand promotions by using XR devices. He has also worked with the local team to build a pop-up shop in Japan, Korea and Singapore.
Visual Designer｜YANG Chin-phang
Yang is one of the most talented animator in Taiwan. He specialises in 3D animation production, motion graphics design and VJ.
Sound System Designer｜CHEN Hsin-kuei
Founder of Feblow Production.
Chen is a professional sound system designer and consultant for live concerts and theatre productions. He has designed sound system for classical concerts, pop concerts, theatre shows and stand up comedy shows. With Max / MSP, he has designed immersive surrounding sound systems for new media shows and sonic art pieces.
