2024 Ting-Shuo Chang's Violin Recital
The summer, the violinist Ting-Shuo Chang and the pianist Ru-Lin Lai will once again share the stage in 2024. This time, they will present the works by three influential composers who were all born in Austria, all had Jewish backgrounds, and all had a great influence on the early 20th-century music industry: E. W. Korngold, F. Kreisler and A. Schlenberg. This is a musical journey hat is at times light-hearted, at times romantic, and at times dramatic.
The concert will begin with E. W. Korngold's only violin sonata (Sonate für Violine und Klavier G-Dur, Op. 6). Next, the performance will feature F. Kreisler's "Viennese Rhapsodic Fantasietta." After the intermission, the musicians will perform "Phantasy for Violin with Accompaniment of the Piano, Op. 47" by A. Schönberg, who is marking the 150th anniversary of his birth this year. This fantasia, which utilizes twelve-tone techniques, provides a strong contrast. The final part of the concert features only E. W. Korngold's works, adapted from his operas "Die tote Stadt" and "Das Wunder der Heliane". The finale will be a suite based on Shakespeare's play "Viel Lärmen um nichts."
