Beautiful songs deserve beautiful voices. Counterpoint Ensemble proudly presents a remarkable program featuring Korean chamber music star Yoosin Park and Taiwanese tenor Chien-Chi Lin, the first Taiwanese lead soloist at Germany's Kiel Opera House. Together, they will lead the audience on an unforgettable journey in search of "Beautiful Songs."
The program begins with the youthful passion and dreamlike energy of Ravel's String Quartet in F Major. This is followed by Fauré's classic song cycle La Bonne Chanson, where the tenor and chamber ensemble version captures the depth and joy of love. Taiwanese composer Hao-Yuan Chiu's Speak, Sea paints a sonic tribute to the vast and mysterious beauty of the ocean, while Taiwanese-American composer Paul SanGregory's Voyager—inspired by NASA's space exploration—takes the audience on a journey across the boundless universe, leading to a warm, emotionally rich voyage.
Korean cellist Yoosin Park and Counterpoint Ensemble will also present several contemporary works from Taiwan and Korea. Among them, Early Summer by Korean composer Jeajoon Ryu will have its world premiere at this concert. This piece captures the bright and vivid daily life of Korea and Taiwan under the summer sun. Ryu, known for his Cello Concerto and Symphony No. 2 "True Spirit", has had his works performed by top orchestras worldwide, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 2015, he was honored with Poland's Gloria Artis Gold Medal for Cultural Merit and currently serves as Artistic Director of the Seoul International Music Festival.
