[2026 Weiwuying Organ Festival] Olivier LATRY Organ Recital - BACH Mirage
BACH began his career as an organist at age 18 in Arnstadt. His Weimar period was the pinnacle of his creative output, with most of his masterpieces conceived or created during this time; in his later years, he elevated organ to its artistic peak, concluding Lutheran organ music. To the 19th century, this art form received fancy transcriptions from French masters such as WIDOR, VIERNE, DUPRÉ, GIGOUT, and MESSRER, who infused the organ music with a flowing hue. Olivier LATRY, Principal Organist of Notre Dame, continues this heritage, transforming himself into a kaleidoscope-turning artist. As the stops are changed and the airflow pushed, the clear structure of sound appears, just as light penetrates the stained glass windows of Notre Dame, creating a sonic enchantment in the air.
