|From Baroque to contemporary, from Germany to Taiwan|

This album is the first of its kind to feature organ solos and duets recorded at Weiwuying’s Concert Hall, marking a joint effort between long-time collaborators organist Christian SCHMITT and cellist Wen-sinn YANG. SCHMITT masterfully showcases the different properties of Weiwuying’s two organs, with Bach’s music as the central theme. Experience the rich and diverse sounds of Asia’s largest organ through a selection of solos and duets that span Baroque, Romantic, and contemporary styles.

Internationally renowned cellist Wen-sinn YANG teams up with German organist Christian SCHMITT, known for his amazing skills and captivating presence, to deliver a rich and diverse repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary, and from Germany to Taiwan. This album highlights the organ’s magnificent versatility with pieces like Bach’s universally beloved Sonata in D Major for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord, BWV 1028 and Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor, BWV 582; Liszt’s Variations on a Basso Continuo from the Cantata Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen; Höller’s Improvisations on the Spiritual Folk Song Most Beautiful Lord Jesus for Cello and Organ; and other classics.

In addition, the album specially includes two compositions based on DENG Yu-hsien’s song Bang Chhun Hong (Longing for the Spring Breeze)–one arranged by Taiwanese composer LIU Shen-hsien, and the other by German composer SCHNEIDER. The collaboration brings two distinct moods to a single melody, creating a powerful musical experience that resonates with the Taiwanese spirit.
