\n
\nKeynote
The keynote will be in an introduction to the work Lene Bang has done regarding It Starts with a Conversation and other collaborative projects. Thought and considerations from a producer based in the Nordic countries. Issues we face, the importation to document work practice and how to forge stronger links and opportunities for the arts and the artists through collaboration and shared practice or even by challenging the status quo.
\n
\nWorkshop
It Starts with a Conversation is an online publication of a guide written jointly by creative producers Ása RICHARDSDÓTTIR and Lene Bang HENNINGSEN. The guide is written for the Nordic contemporary dance community and aimed towards artists and producers who wish to work collaboratively and internationally. The authors developed the guide through a conversation between them. It is practical and interactive, offering the reader various tools to use in professional development as well as thought-provoking and process-oriented reflections on the multiple stages in the artist´s and producer´s career. The guide was initially commissioned by ICE HOT Nordic Dance Platform, and authors and partners hope this guide will be shared widely in the dance community and beyond. At this occasion, one of the co-writers will host a workshop targeted at emerging artist and producers, to cultivate a conversation which can inspire the next steps in the developing work.

WANG Meiyin | Producer and Curator
\n\n\n\nWANG Meiyin is a producer and curator of live performance based in California. She specializes in cross disciplinary contemporary performance, working with touring artists including Tina Satter/ Half Straddle; Pig Iron Theatre Company, Andrew Ondrejcak; and Toshi Reagon and Eric Ting. She just concluded a three year Andrew W. Mellon Creative Fellow at the University of Washington.
\n\nHer recent projects include La Jolla Playhouse's Without Walls, a site-specific and experiential city-wide performance festival in San Diego; the Co-Director of Under the Radar Festival at The Public Theater in New York. Since 2005, the annual 12-day festival has presented over 200 companies from 37 countries and is a catalyst in discovering new performance in the US and around the world. In 2013, she led the creation of the Devised Theater Initiative, a program that enhances UTR's year-round programmatic structure by serving as an incubator for independently produced work. She was the curator of the Park Avenue Armory's artist residency series and the lead curator of Arts Emerson's TNT Festival.
\n\nShe travels actively to research new performance globally and has served on numerous adjudication panels including Herb Alpert Award, NEFA, NEA, NYFA, Arts Presenters, The Jerome Foundation, MAP Fund, Sundance Institute, and the Boska Komedia Festival (Poland). Wang served on the board of Theater Communications Group and was an associate artist of Singapore Repertory Theatre. She holds an M.F.A. in Directing from Columbia University. Meiyin was born and raised in Singapore by Taiwanese parents.
\n
\nKeynote: Festivals - The Creation of Utopias
There has been an explosion of performance festivals in the United States in the last 15 years, and a resurgence of US artists touring outside the country. We will discuss the landscape of festivals of contemporary theater and performance in the US with a focus on successful small to mid-scale touring work. WANG, who has curated the Under the Radar Festival in New York, and Without Walls Festival in San Diego, talks about her experience of the art, business, and the magic of festivals.
\n
\nWorkshop: Festivals - New Work, New Ways
From the perspective of an independent producer, we look at how artists are supported, and work is funded and created in the context of the US, and the global touring festival circuit. How do you put a project together (and keep it together?)
