【2022 Weiwuying Circus Platform】Radiant Dance - Toggle Switch

Toggle Switch is a performance connected by an extension of tangible "points"; the dancers freely stretch and move to show the multi-layered connotation of the existence of life. The objects drive the life in every moment of breath, awakening the inauthentic being. Toggle Switch is the name of the new vision, an exhibition of intuitive responses to human interactions in the present. It refers to the spatial meaning of the world around us, replacing the usual form of watching performances and reshaping the world with images. With the development of advanced technologies, signals have become the means of communications among people. The global flow of signals exists in various cultural forms, exchanging greetings between the intangible and the tangible, outlining and transferring various expectations and dreams of life as they really are, capturing the flow of life, rediscovering the dialogue between people and generations, shuttling between the dualistic structure of emptiness and realness, and enabling the signals to convey a life-affirming atmosphere and warmth and to realize the timeless value of the beauty of life. Inspired by choreographer Wu Ying-Fang's body culture – her multiple performance experiences in dance and stunts, Toggle Switch is a visionary body experiment to recreate a new perspective on the body, revealing how life can evolve beyond the limits of thought through the body's reference to existing ways. Art is her laboratory for creating new life, making new changes to techniques, and improving existing ones; it is also an entity that occupies a spatial position, which gives the work its own voice and expressiveness in the process of re-creation, upholding goodness and beauty, linking the common goodness of the world of living things, and creating a perceptual consciousness that transcends the bodily interface.

Team Introduction
Expression: a dreamy state in a trance; colour: outward appearance as a manifestation of the heart; dance: voluntary movements of the body; form: an ineffable combination of lines.
Radiant Dance was founded on August 14, 1997, in Taipei, Taiwan. Almost immediately, the troupe was invited to perform the 80-minute Invisible Trilogy at the second Ping-Fong Performance Festival of 1997, hosted by the Ping-Fong Acting Troupe. In 2001, the troupe brought 10 professional performers together at the Taipei Times Square Performance Hall to put on the 2-hour creative work The Reason is Only a Part of the Reason. In 2002, the troupe performed their principal work of the year, The Circle of Life, a combination of dance and live music, theatre, drama, and magic, in the Four-Joint Building at Huashan Art & Cultural Park. In 2004, the troupe performed IA Box of Light in the Guangfu Auditorium at Taipei Zhongshan Hall. In 2006, the troupe performed Story of the Acrobatic Family at the Red House Theatre.
In 2019, the young artist WU Ying-Fang took on the position of circus leader to continue the development and operations of Radiant Dance. She choreographed Life Depth Sound in 2020 and Toggle Switch in 2021. The troupe sets as its unremitting goal the development of diverse dance performances inspired by daily life that explore every possible creative form of dance and acrobatics. Most of the creative consciousness, materials, and forms of the troupe are drawn from real-life phenomena; according to WU, "our creation goes wherever life goes." She sees life as a series of dance moves that are by no means limited to a strict definition of "dance" or "acrobatics."
