【2023 Weiwuying Children's Festival】Yinalang Group - Story of Summer Fruits
The fruits that grow from the land tell their story.
Summer is the time when all things flourish. As the sun warms the earth and the afternoon thunderstorms pour down rain, the fruit fairies awaken with the ripening of fruits on the branch. The watermelons morph into round, roly-poly ladybugs, and the fragrant golden mangoes that fill the trees transform into a flock of shrikes. Suddenly, something dark, grey, and strange appears in the air. Planted in the soil it doesn't grow roots, and neither does it sprout when soaked in water. It makes the land dirty, sick, and miserable. Beep! Beep! Beep! The summer alarm is about to go off!
Story of Summer Fruits uses seasonal fruits as protagonists to tell the story of the land through an exploration of various themes. In Summer, the first in the series, watermelons and mangoes show us the process of their cultivation from a whole new perspective. The clever use of lighting and puppets helps to create a colorful visual experience.

Artists Introduction
Yinalang Group
Just as the name of the group suggests ("Yinalang" is "Children" pronounced in Taiwanese), we aspire to preserve the child at heart and stay curious. By experimenting various forms of expression, such as objects, light and shadow and puppetry, we transform everyday objects into the inspiration of our work and extend the imagination and possibility of objects. In addition to live performances, we also try to combine local features or memories of participants with objects and puppetry to develop a series of workshops. We are always open and look forward to participating in fun art activities.
Visual design|WANG Yin-yin
An illustrator with a Master's in Illustration and Visual Media from the University of the Arts London, WANG's illustrations and collages focus on food, sustainability, and Solar Terms. She was shortlisted for the 2019 V&A Illustration Awards in the UK and the 3x3 International Illustration Awards in the US.
Musical arrangement|TAN Chi-Hsu
A guitarist, arranger, and producer, TAN graduated from the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University and the Department of Philosophy of Taiwan National University. He taught guitar in his high school club, formed a busking band, and became a street performer after graduation. As a musician with a wide range of interests, he has created soundtracks and musical arrangements as well as participated in stage shows, musicals, movies, popular music productions, and live performances since 2011. He is deft at creating his own unique sound with unusual perspectives and instrumental combinations.
Theme song performed by|CHEN Hong-chu
I like singing and like playing music with others even more.
Besides singing acapella, jazz, and pop,
I also do commercial recordings and voice-acting.
I think being able to travel wherever the music takes me is the best of all!
