【2024 Weiwuying International Music Festival】Marianna BEDNARSKA Percussion Recital - In the beginning was rhythm
Marianna BEDNARSKA won't just be showcasing her marimba prowess, but she's also curated a line-up of notable percussion pieces.
Hailing from Poland, Marianna BEDNARSKA clinched the title of percussion winner at the 2019 Geneva Music Competition and was also honored with the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award that same year. With her remarkable musical interpretations and impeccable technique, she's rapidly emerging as one of Europe's most notable rising stars. Luzerner Zeitung extolled her ability to inspire audiences "with her virtuosic, emotional, and masterful playing across instruments. The New York Times lauded her "sparkling" recording of four marimba concertos by the Danish composer Anders KOPPEL.
In her upcoming concert, BEDNARSKA will render several string pieces on the marimba, including BACH's standalone Cello Suite and PAGANINI's Caprice, each demonstrating her profound interpretative depth and deft technique. She's also chosen contemporary masterpieces that blend diverse forms of artistic expression to enchant music aficionados. Whether it's Georges APERGHIS's Le Corps à Corps, a piece that melds spoken word with hand drums to portray an entwined battle between two entities; Vinko GLOBOKAR's "? Corporel," where the body itself becomes a musical instrument, exploring soundscapes through strikes to various body parts; or Emmanuel SÉJOURNÉ's "Attraction" and others, every piece promises to be a unique auditory journey!
